1926
Rubí Industria de Cremalleras was founded in 1926 as Azamon España, at that time a manufacturer for Lightning Zippers Ltd., a subsidiary of Imperial Metal Industries Ltd. (IMI) in London. During those years, the factory produced under the name Lightning Zippers.
1967
The British group decided to embark on a new venture with Opti Zippers, using the factory located in Rubí to launch a new zipper brand called Relámpago Zippers.
1987
Due to international economic difficulties, Opti and IMI decided to divest the business and transfer it to the employees, who formed Rubi Zippers.
1990
The company began a process of international expansion and growth, establishing itself as a prestigious brand recognised in the industry. During this period, investments were made in modernising systems and expanding the factory’s market presence.
2009
Due to the global economic crisis, the company undertook a restructuring process that culminated in 2016 with the entry of two investment funds, which revitalised the company under its new name, Rubí Industria de Cremalleras.
2022
Rubi Zippers is one of the leading zipper manufacturers in Europe, with partners in Turkey and Asia. By accumulating knowledge over the years, we have been able to serve first-class clients.
2026
In the year of our centenary, Rubi Zippers proudly and gratefully received the “Business Career and Municipal Roots” recognition during Nit de l’Empresa, organised by the Ajuntament de Rubí. This recognition celebrates 100 years of effort, commitment and evolution, and we share it with everyone who has been part of our history. A century of growing from Rubí while always looking towards the future.
